Bookbinding by HandThe unique quality and integrity of a hand-bound book or album cannot be reproduced by any machine. Using the best (or in some cases, the most interesting) of ancient and modern technologies, at Vinegar Hill books, boxes, albums and portfolios are designed and built for collectors, writers, artists, family historians and other individuals. Since 1994, Andrea Kowalski has personally hand-bound hundreds of books, ranging in style from ancient Coptic to traditional leather bindings in the French, German and English styles to modern library-style to miniature and mechanical books. |

Portfolios & PresentationsThe best kept secret of professional artists and photographers was let out in 1999 with the PDN/Nikkon Self-Promotion Awards. Since then, ever more professionals have chosen Vinegar Hill as a partner in the design and production of innovative and successful portofolios and artistic presentations. Our understanding of the whims and demands of commerce and industry combined with our flexibility and sensibility make Vinegar Hill a natural choice for the realization of the promotional visions of professional photographers, graphic artists and designers of every stripe.Vinegar Hill is also a special place for fine artists. We collaborate with artists on projects ranging from unique and idiosyncratic book structures to limited editions. We are available for consultation on all phases of book design and construction and of course we gladly accept commissions for work. |

Book Repair, Restoration, & ConservationIn addition to our design and edition production services, Vinegar Hill specializes in book and paper repair, restoration & conservation. We are available for consultation and invite your inquiries. Though each damaged book is unique with regard to the manner of intervention required, we have compiled a "Before & After" gallery of typical damage and repair scenarios to give you an idea of what to expect from repair and restoration work.
